How to spot a scammer webpage

Job seekers and hiring managers beware! Fraudsters are creating fake websites that mimic legitimate companies, imitating their recruitment practices. These websites aim to steal your money and personal details.
Here's how to protect yourself:

1. Check for a secure connection:
Look for a padlock icon or settings to the left of the website address (URL) in your browser. This indicates a secure connection protected by an SSL certificate. Clicking the padlock should allow you to verify the website's identity. If there's no padlock or the verification fails, proceed with caution.

2. Verify the company website(s):
Many reputable companies have dedicated careers or recruitment sections on their main website. Secure website addresses should always start with ‘https://’. Here are Convatec's official websites for reference:
Customer facing websites: https://www.convatec.com/
Convatec Group Plc website: https://www.convatecgroup.com/

3. Look for Missing Information:
Legitimate websites typically have an "About Us" section that provides information about the company and its mission. They will also have clear contact information, such as a phone number and email address. Missing this information can be a red flag.

4. Scrutinize the URL:
Be wary of typos or unusual domain extensions in the website address. A legitimate website will typically use a common extension like ".com," ".org," or ".ca" depending on the company's location.

Bonus tip: If you're unsure about a website, a quick Google search with the company name can often lead you to
their legitimate website.

By following these tips, you can help avoid falling victim to a scam website and protect your personal information.
